Filming Company in Nepal |Nepalese Distributor Halts Nationwide Screening Of ‘Adipurush’ Film Amidst Controversy In Nepal

Banktes Films, the Nepalese distributor of the film 'Adipurush', has taken the decision to halt the movie's screening nationwide. This decision was announced by the company's director, Manoj Rathi, who stated that the film's screening has been stopped in all locations.

The halt in the film's release was prompted by objections raised by theater owners, who stopped screening the film without an official letter from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Rathi expressed dissatisfaction with this action, stating that if theater owners cease screening without an official letter and rely solely on a Facebook post, continuing the screenings seems unjustified, and legal action might be unnecessary.

This decision came after Balendra Shah, the head of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, issued directives leading to the closure of all 17 theaters in the city starting from Monday.

Rathi conveyed discontent with both the movie association and theater owners for discontinuing the film without an official decision. Additionally, the distributor expressed dissatisfaction with Mayor Balen for not actively engaging in resolving the issue. It was under Mayor Balen’s instructions that city police arrived at the theaters on Sunday evening and verbally instructed them not to screen the film.
