Pre-Production in Nepal | Wonka prequel movie heads into pre-production

 Pre-Production in Nepal

Warner Bros is pressing ahead with its plans to bring Willy Wonka back to the big screen, with the upcoming film project that’s cunningly entitled Wonka.

This is a prequel story to the one told in Roald Dahl’s book Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and whilst you might be firmly in the camp of ‘we don’t need a Wonka prequel story’, we’d just mitigate that with the fact of who’s directing. Paul King is behind the camera for this one, and he’s helmed Paddington and Paddington 2. We reckon he knows what he’s doing.

It’s now been revealed that the film will be filming in the UK, with pre-production underway on the film. It’ll work from a final script by Simon Farnaby and Paul King, and has already been scheduled for release in March 2023.

Here’s the bit we don’t know though: the name of the person set to play Willy Wonka. Lots of speculation, and we’ve not heard a better idea than Richard Ayoade. But with filming looking like it’s ramping up for the summer, we can’t be too far away from finding out.
