Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has introduced a revised property tax system specifically tailored for filming activities within the revered confines of the Hanuman Dhoka area. This initiative, launched at the onset of the fiscal year 2023/24, involves a restructured fee framework for filmmakers aiming to capture the essence of this historically significant location. For foreign filmmakers venturing to shoot feature films in this distinguished zone, the stipulated fee stands at Rs 55,000 per day, while Nepali filmmakers face a fee of Rs 20,000 per day for filming within this cultural treasure trove.

Beyond feature films, the revised taxation extends to encompass various other categories of filming endeavors. For short films, documentaries, and music videos, foreign filmmakers are required to pay Rs 25,000 per day, whereas Nepali filmmakers will incur a fee of Rs 10,000 per day for filming within this culturally significant area. This tiered fee structure seeks to cater equitably to diverse filming needs while preserving the sanctity of this historically rich site.
Moreover, in the domain of shooting advertisement videos, foreign entities engaged in commercial filming are expected to remit Rs 60,000 per day.
